MARQUETTE, Mich. - The NMU Volleyball team will compete in its last two regular season matches of the 2024 season this weekend, traveling to Lake Superior State on Friday, November 15 at 5 p.m. and finishing the regular season at Saginaw Valley State on Saturday, November 16 at 3 p.m.
The Wildcats split last weekend, losing to No. 1 Ferris State in three sets on Friday and defeating Davenport in five sets after trailing 2-0. In this match, the team recorded 89 digs, the second highest for the team this season.Â
Earlier in the season, the Wildcats came out on top against LSSU and SVSU, both in four sets.

Cat Nips
- Jacquline Smith recorded 21 kills in last week's reverse sweep match against Davenport. This was her sixth match this season of 20+ kills. The senior captain for NMU recorded a career-high 28 kills against rival Michigan Tech on October 30, as well as a career-high 19 digs during the match. She is 4th among all of Division II active players in career kills with 1,826. On October 5th vs. Lake Superior State, Smith broke the program's all-time kills record, surpassing the previous mark of 1,664 by Andrea Gommans that stood since 1993. She is second in the league this season with 390 kills. She also reached 1,000 career digs earlier this season, becoming the 18th player in NMU history to hit the milestone.
- Allie Barlow leads the GLIAC with 1,014 assists. The sophomore has the highest attacking percentage of the team with a .403. Last weekend, in the match against Davenport, Barlow recorded a career-high of 8 kills.
- Liesl Haugen tallied 23 digs in the win against Davenport on November 9. She also recorded an impressive 31 digs in the victory at Michigan Tech earlier this season, a career best for the sophomore. She has been a consistent player for the team, with 393 on the season.Â
- Caylie Barlage became the 19th Wildcat to hit the 1,000 career digs milestone in NMU's victory at Michigan Tech on October 30.Â
- Meghan Meyer hit her 1,000th career kill earlier this season in a match against Michigan Tech. She holds a .335 hitting percentage this season, which is 7th in the league. McKenzie Gruner follows not far behind at .310.Â

Lake Superior State
LSSU has a record of 7-18 for the 2024 season, with a mark of  2-12 in conference play. The team has a win-lose percentage of .280 and a hitting percentage of .142.Â
The team is led by Gia Waters, who has 180 kills during the season. As a team, the Lakers average 10.35 kills/set and 12.98 digs/set. The Lakers are led defensively by Ally Lasley who has 251 digs.Â
Saginaw Valley State
Saginaw Valley State is 6-19 overall on the season, being 3-11 in conference matches. The Cardinals have a hitting percentage of .157 and are currently on a two-match losing streak. They are averaging 13.33 digs/set and 11.34 kills/set.
