COLORADO SPRINGS, Col. - The NMU men's hockey team wrapped up its weekend series in Colorado, falling 6-1 to No. 12 Colorado College on Satruday.
The Tigers took a quick 2-0 lead just three minutes into the game, forcing
Dave Shyiak to use his timeout and rally the troops.
The 'Cats responded well after the timeout, and were rewarded with a goal.
Ryan Duguay earned his first goal as a Wildcat, coming within seconds of a Tiger penalty was expiring.
Joe Schiller and
Jakob Peterson both recorded assists on the goal.
The Tigers added one in the middle frame, then three more in the third to take game two from Colorado 6-1.

How It Happened
The Tigers opened the game with pace, scoring two goals just a minute and a half apart in the first three minutes of the game, prompting
Dave Shyiak to use his timeout to regroup.
As a man advantage was coming to a close, the Wildcats were able to cut into the Tiger lead. Duguay walked in from the blue line and fired a shot that took a strange couple of bounces off of Mbereko before finding its way into the back of the net.
The Tigers regained its two-goal lead off a failed clear from the Wildcats after a Tiger player batted the puck out of the air. A pass went from right to left across the point to Blais-Savoie who walked in down the left side and fired a wicked wrister past the ear of Barwick.
The Tigers extended the lead just 20 seconds into the third, as Veremyev received a perfect pass through the slot and one-timed a shot past Barwick.
After a taxing penalty kill, the Tigers caught a tired group of Wildcats hemmed in their own zone. Gallagher had room to walk down broadway, going from the blue line to the slot, and fired a shot through traffic and next to the ear of Barwick.
The Tigers were awarded a power play with a minute and a half left and scored with a second left to play, taking the game 6-1.
