How It Happened
1st Half

The Wildcats got the first good opportunity to score, as Hannah Kastamo sent one towards the far post that landed on the foot of Stephanie Trujillo who sent it back the other way through the goal area before UIS could clear the ball from danger. Moments later, a well-placed corner into the box from the Wildcats was headed towards goal, but a UIS defender could get a piece of it to clear.

The Wildcats continued the pressure, as Hannah Kastamo received a pass from Molly Pistorius that sent her on a good run with an open look for a shot but was denied by the keeper. About halfway through the frame, Brooke Pietila received a cross from Molly Pistorius. Pietila volleyed the ball towards goal, but the keeper was on her mark.

The Prarie Stars responded, making a good run towards goal and firing a quality ball on goal to welcome Jillian Thompson to the action, who had to make an outstretched save to deflect the ball over the crossbar.

Into the dying minutes of the half, Pietila had a dangerous opportunity from deep that she sent towards goal, forcing the UIS goalkeeper to climb the ladder to make a save.

2nd Half
Two minutes into the half, Brenna Musser received a throw-in down by the near corner. Musser used her right foot to send in a perfectly placed cross for Hannah Kastamo who came through the line to direct into the goal, giving the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.

The Wildcats had another opportunity to extend its lead, as a Stephanie Trujillo corner landed on the head of Brenna Musser who just sent it over the cross-bar.

The Wildcats caught a break, as the Stars passed back to the keeper to reset the attack. The keeper went to clear the ball but hit the pressing Stephanie Trujillo and redirected it into the goal to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead with just over eleven minutes left.

The Wildcats clamp down defensively for the final ten minutes to secure the clean sheet and fourth consecutive win to start the season.
