NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – The Northern Michigan University Lacrosse had five student-athetles represented on the 2023 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II Academic Honor Roll, with
Minnie Bittell,
Kaitlyn Bridger,
Clara Johnson, Kate Mongold, and
Jane Taylor being honored. The team was also recognized as an (IWLCA) Academic Honor Squad for the 2022-23 academic year, announced by the IWLCA on Wednesday.
To be eligible for the individual honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. To qualify for the prestigious team honor, the team must have posted a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year.
Minnie Bittell (Public Relations/Spanish) is a recipient of the Spring 2023 GLIAC Commissioner's Award and All-GLIAC First Team honors,
Kaitlyn Bridger (Nursing) landed on the All-GLIAC First Team,
Clara Johnson (Multimedia Journalism/International Studies) finished with 12 goals and one assist,
Katelyn Mongold (Forensic Biochemistry) earned All-GLIAC Second Team honors, and
Jane Taylor (Environmental Science) recorded two assists, two ground balls, and caused three turnovers. All of the athletes above were honored by the GLIAC, earning spots on the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team.
In total, 287 schools across Division I, II, III, and NAIA, and 395 student-athletes from 58 different institutions were honored. The full IWLCA release can be found
