The Wildcats made headway with Minnie Bittell striking first and Madi Bast following behind less than a minute later. Natalie McGinnis assisted Kaitlyn Bridger, earning a third goal for NMU less than three minutes in. McGinnis then got one of her own with the help of Taylor Priestley. Clara Johnson and Dayna Carlson added two more tallies to the scoreboard. Priestley put the score at 7-0, which was followed with a free position shot made by Camryn Mayer. Katelyn Mongold added two herself back-to-back. An eventful first quarter came to a close with one more goal made by Mya Snyder, ending with NMU leading at 11-0.

With the 'Cats well in front, the Eagles tried to play catch up in the second quarter where they were able to score twice. The first was made at the beginning of the period before NMU's Isabelle Detienne answered with her first strike of the game. Katelyn Mongold earned her hat trick after an assist by Lindsey Locke. Augsburg found another with four minutes left, and ended the first half trailing by 11 at 13-2.

As the teams returned from halftime, Bridger and Bittell put two more points up on the board before Augsburg earned a free position shot goal. Camryn Mayer assisted Ella Larson and Detienne in their goals before the quarter was over. The third period ended with the 'Cats up by 14 points at 17-3.

In the final fifteen minutes of the game, only two goals were made, and they were both by NMU.
