MARQUETTE, Mich. - Coming of off a three-win week at home, the Northern Michigan Volleyball team is set to hit the road for the final time this season as they take on Lake Superior State on Friday, November 10 at 6 p.m. The Cats' final road match will be vs. No. 20 ranked Ferris State on Saturday, November 11 at 5 p.m. ahead of the GLIAC Tournament.

- The 'Cats are currently fifth in the GLIAC with a record of 8-8. Overall, Northern sits at 11-16 on the season.
- Senior setter Lauren Van Remortel was named the GLIAC Setter of the Week following 115 assists and 10.18 assists/set last week.
- Junior outside hitter Jacqueline Smith is currently ranked first in the GLIAC in kills per set (3.78). Within conference play she is first in total attacks (483).
- Freshman libero Liesl Haugen is currently third in GLIAC play in digs/set (4.35) and second in total digs (298).
- Junior middle blocker Meghan Meyer is third in the conference with a .350 overall attack percentage while she is ranked second in GLIAC matches in solo blocks (20).
- Sophomore middle blocker McKenzie Gruner is sixth within GLIAC play in solo blocks (13).
A Recap of the Last Match
The Cats' hosted Wayne State University for Senior Day last Saturday. In a thrilling four-set clash, the Wildcats secured the win for a 3-0 final home stretch. Northern won 25-20, 25-20, and 29-27 in the send-off game of four NMU senior student-athletes. Jaqueline Smith led the way in Wildcat kills with 17, including the final kill of the match, followed by
Meghan Meyer with 16 and
Evynn Layshock with 12. NMU's main success came from senior setter
Lauren Van Remortel, who assisted on 52 kills.
Notes on Lake Superior State
The Lakers enter the weekend at 4-12 in the GLIAC, and 7-20 overall. Earlier this season on the road, the Cats' won in a three-set sweep. NMU dominated the attack hitting a season-high .301.
Jacqueline Smith and
Rayne Thompson both led the way with 13 kills. The Wildcats currently have a 31-2 all-time record vs. the Lakers, and are on a four-game win streak vs, the Lakers.
The Laker attack is led by senior (OH) Mariana Velasque with 360 kills and senior (MB) Emilee McDaniel with 257 kills on the season. As a team, the Lakers are hitting .165. They average 11.91 kills/set and 10.97 assists/set.
Notes on No. 20 Ferris State
The Bulldogs come into the weekend atop the GLIAC at 14-2 with a 21-6 overal mark, winning its last match in five sets vs. Purdue Northwest. The Bulldogs are currently ranked No. 21 in the country. In the last matchup between the Bulldogs and Wildcats, the Cats' were swept by the Bulldogs in three sets. The Wildcats have a 10-16 record vs. the Bulldogs all-time, and are on a four-game slide in the matchup.
The FSU attack is led by junior (MB) Olivia Hennemn-Dallaper with 353 kills and junior (OH) Claire Nowiscki with 230 kills. As a team, the Bulldogs are hitting .266. They average 12.87 kills/set and 11.89 assists/set.
