NMU Football heads to SVSU for final road tilt

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University Football team prepares to hit the road for the final time this season. Northern will plays its final conference match, facing the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals on Saturday, November 4. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at the Harvey Randall Wickes Memorial Stadium.

Last Weekend
The 'Cats hosted Wayne State University, and fell 41-17. NMU started out hot with a 10-2 lead in the second quarter, but would let WSU go on 39-0 run to end the game. The Warriors rushed for 188-yards and threw for 144-yards, compared to the Wildcats 103-yards on the ground and 165-yards in the air. Noah Hofmann scored a 52-yard touchdown and Sam Peiffer also found the endzone for a 23 yard reception. Mitch Larkin continues to lead the conference in tackles, adding 14 in the game for the green and gold.

The loss dropped the Wildcats to 0-9 on the season, while the Warriors improved to 3-6.

Notes on Saginaw Valley State
The Saginaw Valley State enters the matchup 4-5 overall and 1-3 within the GLIAC. SVSU has a 11-3 all-time record vs. NMU, winning the last 6 matchups.

Last week, Saginaw Valley State lost to Davenport University in overtime 24-21. SVSU fumbled in overtime, turning the ball over to DU as time expired. The Cardinals  produced 352 yards of total offense in comparison to the Panthers 329. Mason McKenzie (QB) threw for 156 yards and a score, and rushed for 54 yards and a score. Terrance Brown (RB) rushed for 84 yards and a score, and  had 29 yards through the air.
