CHICAGO, Ill. - The Northern Michigan University women's basketball team continued its unbeated streak, defeating the soon-to-be GLIAC foe Roosevelt Lakers 75-61.
Makayle Kuhn scored a season-high 24 points and earned a double-double with 10 boards, chipping in two assists as well.
Sarah Newcomer was next with 11 points, three boards and two assists, followed by
Ana Rhude and
Alyssa Nimz with nine points.
The 'Cats shot 25-63 (39.7%) from the field and 7-22 (31.8%) from beyond the arc, while making a season-high 18 freethrows on 20 attempts. The 'Cats distributed the ball well, recording a season-high 20 assists, and dominated the glass with another season-high 42 rebounds the the Lakers 27.
The 'Cats now move to 3-0 on the young season, and the Lakers fall to 1-4.

How It Happened
1st Quarter
The 'Cats built a seven-point lead after the first quarter, outsourcing the Lakers 21-14, led by
Ana Rhude's seven points.
Abi Fraaza was next with four,
Mackenzie Holzwart dished out two assists, and
Makaylee Kuhn recorded two steals.
The 'Cats shot 6-16 from the field and 2-7 from beyond the arc while outrebounding the Lakers 11-6 with seven offensive boards to the Lakers' two.
2nd Quarter
Alyssa Nimz introduced herself in the second quarter, scoring five points with two rebounds and a steal. Kuhn was next with four points and an assist, and
CJ Romero distributed the ball well with two assists. This quarter was closer at 22-19, but the 'Cats trotted to the locker room with a 43-33 lead.
The 'Cats shot more efficiently in the second frame with 8-17 from the field and 3-6 from beyond the arc. The 'Cats moved the ball extremely well to find open teammates, recording seven assists across the field.
3rd Quarter
The 'Cats regressed a little in the third quarter, scoring a game-low 14 points in the quarter, but managed to maintain the 10 point lead. Kuhn had a dominant quarter, scoring six points and grabbing four boards.
The 'Cats recorded their worst shooting numbers in the third frame, shooting 5-16 from the field and 0-3 from beyond the arc.
4th Quarter
Kuhn aided her team mightily down the stretch, scoring 11 points in the fourth quarter from 3-5 shooting from the field, hitting her only three-point shot, and making all four from the charity stripe while adding three more boards to complete her double-double. Holzwart and
Braelyn Torres chipped in defensively, recording three and two steals, respectively.
The 'Cats shot 6-14 from the field and 2-6 from the three-point line, out rebounding the Lakers 10-5 with four offensive boards to one.
