- The 'Cats are currently seventh in the GLIAC with a record of 5-6. Overall, Northern sits at 8-14 on the season.
- Junior outside hitter Jacqueline Smith is currently ranked fourth in GLIAC in kills per set (3.56). Within conference play she is first in total attacks (438).
- Freshman libero Liesl Haugen is currently second in GLIAC play in digs/set (5.05) and second in total digs (161).
- Junior middle blocker Meghan Meyer is third in the conference with a .333 overall attack percentage while she is ranked seventh in GLIAC matches in solo blocks (9).
- Sophomore middle blocker McKenzie Gruner is fifth within GLIAC play in solo blocks (12).
A Recap of Last Weekend
The Cats' traveled downstate last weekend to take on Wayne State and Saginaw Valley State. Friday In the Motor City, Northern was caught on the wrong end, being swept in three straight sets against Wayne State.
Jacqueline Smith reached 10 kills for the Green and Gold in the match. Saturday, the Cats' traveled to Saginaw to take on the Cardinals. The Cats' quickly bounced back by sweeping SVSU with set scores of 25-23, 25-10, and 25-18. NMU recorded a season-high 15 aces in the contest to get back on track. It was the most aces in a three-set match within the GLIAC this season.
Notes on Grand Valley State
The Lakers enter the weekend at 9-2 in the GLIAC, and 17-3 overall. Grand Valley State is currently coming off a tight five set loss to No.16 Ferris State. Earlier this season in Marquette, the Cats' lost in four sets. NMU had struggled hitting, recording just a .083 attack percentage to GV's .294. The Wildcats currently have a 9-15 all-time record vs. the Lakers, and are on a two game slide in the matchup.
The Laker attack is led by junior (S) Jordan Gates with 243 kills and sophomore (OH) Kendall Stover with 176 kills on the season. As a team, the Lakers are hitting .283. They average 14.1 kills/set and 12.9 assists/set.
Notes on Davenport
The Panthers come into the weekend at 6-5 in the GLIAC. Davenport sits at 10-12 overall, winning its last match in three sets vs. Purdue Northwest. In the last matchup between the Panthers and Wildcats, the Cats' took care of the Panthers in five sets. The Wildcats have a 9-3 record vs. the Panthers all-time, and are on a three-game winning streak vs. the Panthers.
The SVSU attack is led by graduate transfer (OH) Lindsay Taylor with 260 kills and junior (RS) Emma Turnquist with 162 kills. As a team, the Cardinals are hitting .192. They average 12.0 kills/set and 11.0 assists/set.
