MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University men's soccer team will host GLIAC opponent the St. Cloud State Huskies in its final regular season game, and will be honoring five seniors for senior day.
The Wildcats (2-9-3 overall, 1-6-2 GLIAC) take on the St. Cloud State Huskies (3-6-4 overall, 3-3-3 GLIAC) on Sunday at 1 PM.

Kalvin Glodz,
Casey Miller,
Jackson Bowers, and
Fernando Abascal will be honored for their time and commitment to the NMU program on Sunday.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
- Keegan Schmidt has spent the past five years with the Wildcats, setting a new NMU program record of games played with 69, and played a huge role on the defensive end recording back-to-back seasons with over 1000 minutes played
- An integral part of the Wildcat culture, Kalvin Glodz served as the NMU captain this season after recieving the NMU Athletics Breakthrough Athlete of the Year award after the 2022 season. Glodz has started in every game since last seaosn, now 30 in a row, and recorded back-to-back seasons with over 1000 minutes played
- A member of the Wildcats since 2021, Casey Miller started in four of his 23 games played, registered 506 minutes of playing time, and 11 of his 16 shots have been on target
- A member of the Wildcats since 2019, Jackson Bowers has seen action on four seperate occasions, making five saves and recording one shutout for a record of 1-1-0 in 220 minutes of play
- A graduate transfer, Fernando Abascal has started in every match for the Wildcats this season, registering a goal and an assist with over 1000 minutes of playing time
A Look at St.Cloud State
The Huskies come into the weekend 3-6-4 overall and 3-3-3 in the GLIAC, most recently drawing a 1-1 decision to the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals. Forwards Zinedine Kroeten (4g, 0a, 8pts) and Philip Caputo (1g, 4a, 6pts), are leading the Huskies in points this season. Goalkeeper Dylan De Baldo has 64 saves, a SV% of 0.719, and a GAA of 1.96 in the 13 games he has played.
The Cats played the Huskies early in the season dropping the match in a 2-0 decision despite having outshot the opposition 20-13. Beyond the loss earlier this season, the Wildcats won three straight matchups against the Huskies from the 2021-2022 seaosn, outscoring the opposition 9-4 in those three matches
Last Week
The Wildcats hit the road to face-off against GLIAC opponents the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals and the Davenport Panthers last weekend, dropping the match against the Cardinals 2-3, and earning a point against the Panthers with a 0-0 decision.
Noah Johnson and
Cian Tunney were the goal scorers in the match against the Cardinals, both being equalizers, but SVSU were able to sneak a late second half goal to win the game by one.
On Sunday against the Panthers, Goalkeeper
Bryce Beckley was the key to holding on to the draw with five saves in his second shutout of the season. The Wildcats were outshot by the Panthers 16-3.
