MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University Football team returns home to the Superior Dome, as the Wildcats prepare to take on rival Michigan Tech on Saturday, October 14 for the Miner's Cup. The battle is set for 7 p.m. E.T. as the Wildcats will look to regain the Miner's Cup from Tech's twelve year reign.
The matchup will air locally on FOX-UP, with Mark Evans (play-by-play) Dave Ellis (color), and Kevin McNulty (sideline reporter) making up the broadcast team. It marks the 10th season of TV6 and FOX-UP covering the UP rivalry.
Fans are encouraged to fill the Superior Dome stands with Northern green for Saturday's Green Out.

"It's an exciting week and an exciting opportunity. We have to make suree are still in the process of getting better and improving. A lot of these games (vs. Michigan Tech) have been extremely close, and I have no doubt that our guys will take it very seriously and we'll know the importance of it."
Last Weekend
The 'Cats traveled to Davenport to take on the No.16 Panthers last weekend. The Wildcats kept it close throughout most of the game, but back-to-back scores early in the fourth quarter from Davenport would seal the game away. The Panthers would go on to win 28-12.
Northern gained 247 yards of offense in the afternoon to Davenport's 466. NMU's defense forced the Panthers to turnover the ball three times in the contest, all in the first half, with
Kade Manzo (DB) leading the way on an interception and forced fumble. The Cats' would go on to find the endzone at the end of the game, as Freshman
Aidan Hoard (QB) connected with
Michael Love for a 47 yard touchdown.

Notes on Michigan Tech
The Michigan Tech Huskies enter the matchup 3-2 overall and 0-2 within the GLIAC. The Huskies are currently on a two game losing streak. MTU has won the past 12 Miner's Cups over NMU.
Last week, Michigan Tech University lost a close matchup at Wayne State, 23-21. The Huskies produced 406 yards of total offense in comparison to the Warriors 269. Alex Fries (QB) threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns. William Marano (RB) rushed for 116 yards and a score. Ethan Champney (WR) also contributed with 98 yards in the air and a score.
History of the Miner's Cup
Although the rivalry has been around for over 100 years dating back to 1920, the Miner's Cup was first awarded to the winning side in 2002, with Tech holding a 17-3 record over Northern for the prestigious hardware. The Huskies have won the last 12.
