MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. - The NMU volleyball team took to the court for the first time this season against the Central Michigan University (CMU) Chippewas. This exhibition match was the first-ever collegiate volleyball match on Mackinac Island.
The 'Cats fell in the Match on the Mack to the Chippewas with a final score of 3-0.
FIRST SET
Central took the first set 25-16. Northern kept up with Central and tied the game at the beginning (5-5). The 'Cats fought a hard battle posting 13 kills. Jacqueline Smith had her name tied to five of those kills.
SECOND SET
The 'Cats started to find their rhythm in the second set. They found the early lead but still could not find the win, falling 25-14.
THIRD SET
NMU rallied hard but fell 25-20. Meghan Meyer started the set off with an impressive kill. Rayne Thompson followed up with her first-ever collegiate point, ending with five total attempts in this set.

The team will host the NMU Open on Aug. 25-27, 2022.
