Men’s Hoops to Entertain Lawrence Wednesday and Finlandia Sunday

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Wildcats (8-3, 3-1 GLIAC) are set to play a pair of non-conference Division III opponents this week, with Lawrence University (5-5) in town on Wednesday and Finlandia University (2-7) visiting Marquette on Sunday.  

After a four-game stretch of GLIAC games, the Green and Gold are back on a non-conference kick until the new year. This week, NMU hosts Lawrence (Appleton, Wis.) on Wednesday, December 14 at 7 p.m. and Finlandia (Hancock, Mich.) on Sunday, December 18 at 1 p.m.

A Look at the Wildcats
The Wildcats are off to an 8-3 (3-1 GLIAC) start to the season. NMU is coming off a pair of home wins over Ferris State (89-77) and Lake Superior State (87-72). The team is averaging 81.9 points/game and shooting 47.7% from the field. 

Max Bjorklund is coming off his third GLIAC Player of the Week honor. He has scored 20+ points in 7/11 games. His 21.9 ppg is tops in the GLIAC and the 9th-best mark across Division II basketball.

A Look at Lawrence 

Lawrence University, located in Appleton, Wis., is a Division III program in the Midwest Conference (MWC). The Vikings are averaging 65.6 points/game while shooting 44.0% from the floor. 

Adnan Sarancic paces the team with 13.4 ppg and 8.3 rpg.  


A Look at Finlandia
Finlandia is a DIII program in the UP's copper country. The Lions are a member of the Coast-to-Coast Conference (C2C). On the season, FU is averaging 74.3 points/game while allowing 90.3. They shoot 37.6% as a team. 

Ilrick Higgins-Moise leads the Lions with 12.8 ppg and 6.4 rpg.
