MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University Volleyball team will look to ride their momentum into the semifinals round of the GLIAC tournament, where they are set to face off against Grand Valley State University. The match is slated for November 11 at 6:30 p.m., in Big Rapids, Mich.
Northern finished with the second seed in the GLIAC standings, with a 23-7 overall record and a 14-4 record against conference opponents. Grand Valley finished with the sixth seed with an 18-12 overall record and a 10-8 record against conference opponents.
Northern took home victories in both meetings against the Lakers this year, scoring 3-0 in Marquette and 3-2 in Allendale.

A Look at the Wildcats
NMU comes into the semifinals with a 23-7 overall record and a 14-4 record against conference opponents. The 'Cats finished the regular season on a four-game winning streak against GLIAC opponents, going 12-0 in that timeframe. The 'Cats defeated #7 Saginaw Valley State in the GLIAC Quarterfinals by a score of 3-1.
The 'Cats are led by
Jacqueline Smith, who is first in the GLIAC in matches and receptions, and second in kills, kills per set, total attacks, points, and points per set. Another highlight in the 'Cats offense is
Lizzy Stark, who is second on the team and sixth in the GLIAC in kills and kills per set.
Meghan Meyer currently has the best hitting percentage in the GLIAC at .400.
A Look at the Lakers
Grand Valley State comes into the semifinals with an 18-12 overall record and a 10-8 record against conference opponents. The Lakers defeated #3 Davenport in five sets to advance to the second round.
The Lakers are led by Jordyn Gates, who is first on the team in kills and second in kills per set, and Kendall Stover, who is second on the team in kills and first in kills per set.
