MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University Football team is set to host the defending National Champions and the #7 team in the nation the Ferris State University Bulldogs. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats hit the road last week as they traveled to Allendale, Michigan for a matchup with #1 Grand Valley State. The Lakers led from start to finish in a 56-3 win over the Wildcats.
OFFENSE
A slow day on offense against a stout Lakers defense saw Zach Keen complete 17 passes on 30 attempts for 128-yards.
Tyshon King was the leading rusher with just 20 yards on the ground, but King was the leading receiver on the day with six catches for 68-yards.
Kenyon'TA Skinner caught four passes for 30-yards as well.
Daniel Riser connected on his only field goal attempt in the game from 39-yards away.
DEFENSE
On defense, DJ Hutcherson and Tavion McCarthy were the leading tacklers with eleven each. Antonio Howard and Mequon Hudson were right behind with nine tackles each.
Caleb Wright found himself in the backfield a few times in the game, coming away with 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble that was recovered by Jackson Malcolm.
WILDCATS TO WATCH
After a slow day against the Lakers, Tyshon King still finds himself third in the GLIAC in rushing yards and rushing yards per game. King also finds himself third in all-purpose yards and fourth in all-purpose yards per game.
Wyatt Davis is the Wildcats leading receiver with 368-yards, which is tied for sixth in the GLIAC.
Daniel Riser is tied for second in the GLIAC in points scored with 45. Riser is also 100 percent on extra point attempts going 21-21.
Antonio Howard ranks second in the GLIAC in total tackles with 75.
NMU VS FERRIS STATE
The Wildcats are looking to snap a 10 game losing streak to the Bulldogs. The two teams met last season in Big Rapids, where the Bulldogs took the win 44-24.
