Men’s Basketball Prepares for a Pair of Home Tilts

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University Men's Basketball team will be back at home this weekend to continue GLIAC play. The 'Cats will take on Northwood on Saturday (Jan. 29) with a 1.15 p.m. start. U.P. opponent Michigan Tech will then visit the Berry on Monday (Jan. 31) with a 7:45 p.m. tip-off.

LAST TIME OUT

The 'Cats returned home this past weekend for two games. On Thursday, Northern defeated Davenport 91-79 behind 24 points from Justin Brookens

NMU fell 79-67 to Grand Valley on Saturday. Brookens again led the Wildcats with 17 points. 

STAT LEADERS

- Max Bjorklund leads the team in points this season, averaging 15.2 per game. John Kerr (12.5) and Justin Brookens (10.3) are also averaging double-figures for the 'Cats. 

- John Kerr owns a 59.9 shooting percentage (85-142), good for 3rd in the GLIAC. 

- John Kerr, who owns 44 offensive rebounds and 75 on the defensive side, leads the Wildcats on the glass with 119 total boards (7 rebounds/game). 

- Brian Parzych leads the way with 3.2 apg, while Max Bjorklund, Sam Schultz, and John Kerr each average multiple assists a contest. 

- Ben Wolf leads the way in blocks with 15 on the campaign. Parzych paces the team with 21 steals.

Northwood is 3-10 and 1-5 in the GLIAC. DeShaun Munson leads the Timberwolves in scoring at 11.4 points/game. 

Michigan Tech is 11-5 overall and 7-3 in the GLIAC. Owen White is sixth in the conference scoring 16.8 points/game.

NMU vs. Northwood
The Wildcats are 5-5 in their last 10 outings with the Timberwolves. NMU lost 81-72 on the road earlier this season. Max Bjorklund had 19 points. 

NMU has averaged 71 points a game in their meetings with Northwood.

The Wildcats are 4-6 in their last ten against their U.P. In a 77-76 defeat earlier this season in Houghton, John Kerr led the team with 17 points.
