Wildcat Men's Basketball Opens Home Season Sunday, Plays At Crookston Thursday

MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University men's basketball team is ready to continue building after a solid opening weekend in Illinois. 

The 'Cats will travel to Minnesota to take on the Golden Eagles of Minnesota-Crookston. That game will take place Thursday, Nov. 18 at 6:00 p.m. After a two day break, the Wildcats return to the Berry Events Center to play Concordia Wisconsin. They play the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21.

PRESEASON POLLS

The Wildcat men were picked fifth in the GLIAC North Division with 25 points. The 'Cats are two points ahead of Purdue Northwest and 7 points behind Lake Superior State University.

KEY RETURNERS
Senior Max Bjorklund is returning this season for the Wildcats. He started all 16 games for the 'Cats last season, all while making the All-GLIAC Second team. Bjorklund was the Wildcats' leading scorer last season averaging 14.8 points on 46.6 percent shooting.

Also returning for the Wildcats is junior Ben Wolf. Last season he led the team in field goal percentage, shooting at 52.3 percent. He was also second on the team in rebounding, averaging 4.3 per game.

NMU VS MINNESOTA-CROOKSTON
Thursday's meeting between the Wildcats and the Golden Eagles will be the first between the two. This looks to be a fresh and exciting challenge for the 'Cats. Both teams will be looking to advance to a 2-1 record.

NMU VS CONCORDIA ST. PAUL
NMU will be taking on Concordia Wisconsin for the first time in program history. Each team will be looking to take the first victory in this matchup.
