MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University women's basketball team is back in action this weekend at the Berry Events Center. Opening up the 2021-22 regular season, the 'Cats take on William Jewell and Lewis.
Starting out the weekend, the 'Cats will take on William Jewell on Saturday at 1:15 p.m. The team takes the court again on Sunday at 2:15 p.m.

PRESEASON POLLS
The NMU women's basketball team was picked fourth in the GLIAC North Division with 42 points. The 'Cats were two points shy of tying for second place falling closely behind Ferris State University and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
KEY RETURNERS
Returning this season for the Wildcats are two key players for the team, Makaylee Kuhn and Samantha Potter. The 'Cats return this season with all but one player from the 2020-21 team.
Makaylee Kuhn was a 2020-21 All-GLIAC first team member. Having an outstanding freshman season, Kuhn was awarded GLIAC player of the week on three different occasions.
Another sophomore returning this season is Samantha Potter. Last season, Potter was ranked in the top five in the GLIAC for rebounds with 140 total, and rebounds per game averaging 7.4.
NMU VS WILLIAM JEWELL
The Wildcat's women's basketball has faced the William Jewell College Cardinals only one time in program history. The last time the 'Cats faced the Cardinals was back in 2019 and won the only game against them with a score of 60-33.
NMU VS LEWIS
The Wildcats have faced the Lewis University Flyers 6 times since 2013. They most recently faced each other in 2019.
