MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan University men's basketball team is ready to open up the 2021-22 regular season this weekend with the GLVC/GLIAC Challenge in Romeoville, Ill.
The 'Cats will play two games this weekend in Illinois. They play Lewis University on Friday at 8:00 p.m. The Wildcats will then face off against McKendree University at 1 p.m.

PRESEASON POLLS
The Wildcat men were picked fifth in the GLIAC North Division with 25 points. The 'Cats are two points ahead of Purdue Northwest and 7 points behind Lake Superior State University.
KEY RETURNERS
Senior
Max Bjorklund is returning this season for the Wildcats. He started all 16 games for the 'Cats last season, all while making the All-GLIAC Second team. Bjorklund was the Wildcats' leading scorer last season averaging 14.8 points on 46.6 percent shooting.
Also returning for the Wildcats is junior
Ben Wolf. Last season he led the team in field goal percentage, shooting at 52.3 percent. He was also second on the team in rebounding, averaging 4.3 per game.
NMU VS LEWIS
The Wildcats have played the Flyers 8 times, and the 'Cats have won the last 3 meetings between the two teams. The teams last played each other in 2019 with the Wildcats coming out on top 76-63.
NMU VS MCKENDREE
The 'Cats are an even 1-1 with McKendree. The teams last played in 2019 with the Bearcats edging out the Wildcats.
