MARQUETTE, Mich. — The Northern Michigan University football team (3-2, 1-0 GLIAC) is scheduled to play Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Saturday at 12:00p.m. continuing their Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) schedule.

Quarterback Drake Davis sparked the 'Cats with a touchdown run late in the third quarter, to make it a 19-8 ballgame. After a Daniel Riser field goal, with 1:59 left in the game, Davis found wide receiver Isaiah Popp in the end zone to tie the game at 19-all. Last week's matchup saw the Wildcats come back from a 19-0 deficit, scoring 26 unanswered points, to beat Wayne State University 26-19.
Running back DJ Stewart had a stellar 50-yard run with 1:10 left in the game to secure the 26-19 victory for NMU and cap off Homecoming Weekend.
Sophomore Drake Davis is tied for first in the GLIAC with seven touchdown passes. He is also fifth in the conference in passing yards per game with 154.
Davis is now up to 770 passing yards on the season with 71 completions while also rushing for a total of 248 yards with an average of 49.6 per game.
Sophomore running back Tyshon King continues to dominate the NMU rushing game with a total of 294 yards placing him fourth in the GLIAC. He is averaging a total of 6.7 yards per carry making him second in the GLIAC.
Junior Tyquan Cox is a key kickoff returner for the Wildcats and is second in the GLIAC averaging 26.8 yards per return. He is also third in the GLIAC in total return yards with a total of 295 yards.
Wide receiver Benjamin Loutsis ranks in the GLIAC top 10 for wide receivers averaging 48.5 yards per game.
Freshman Will Borchert ranks first in the GLIAC for defense with a total of 49 tackles, averaging 9.8 per game.
Junior John McMullen is tied for third in the GLIAC for defense with a total of four sacks.
Senior Andre Whitley also ranks in the top five in the GLIAC for defense with a total of 36 tackles good for an average of 8.8 per game. He also has 2.5 sacks on the year.
The Wildcats and the Panthers have faced off four times with the last matchup against the Panthers resulting in an NMU win of 20-14 earlier this season.
