Box Score ASHLAND, Ohio – Northern Michigan University Football scored the first points of the game but it wasn't enough as they would fall to Ashland University in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference clash. The 31-10 final brings the season to a close.

GETTING ON THE BOARD

On Ashland's first drive, sophomore Jack Reiger (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) picked off the second play to set up NMU on the Ashland 31-yard line. Sophomore Keshawn Howard (Rochester, N.Y.) took the second play for 14 yards and a first down to put NMU on the Ashland 20. On 3rd and ten, Howard's pass came up incomplete but a penalty gave the Wildcats 1st and 10 on the 10. Howard took the ball down to the three, but a third down incompletion brought up fourth down.
Sophomore Daniel Riser (Ada, Mich.) came out and put the field goal through the uprights to give NMU a 3-0 lead.

HIS FIRST TD

After the hosts scored twice, Howard crossed into the end zone for the first time of his NMU career.
Freshman Tyquan Cox (Chicago, Ill.) took the kickoff back 54 yards to put the NMU offense on the Ashland 40. On 2nd and 10, Howard carried it for six yards, then followed it with a 34 yard carry into the end zone. Riser converted the extra point and made the score 14-10.
Ashland was able to add 17 second half points for the 31-10 victory.

STAT LEADERS

Howard led the rushing attack with 87 yards. Freshman Tyshon King (Kankakee, Ill.) added 51 while sophomore Sebastion Toland (Jackson, Mich.) had 51.
Senior Ryan Knight (Grand Rapids, Mich.) paced the receivers with 24 yards on two catches.
Sophomore Isaac Darkangelo (Brighton, Mich.) was the defensive leader with 12 tackles while redshirt freshman Antonio Howard Jr. (Chicago, Ill.) chipped in with 10. Five different players posted a tackle for loss while Reiger finished with seven tackles plus his interception.
