Box Score MARQUETTE, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University Volleyball team hosted Davenport University in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Homecoming but fell to the Panthers 3-0.

SET SCORES

The Wildcats kept the first set close but the guests held on to claim it 25-23. The Panthers came out strong in the second set and captured a 25-15 victory. NMU rebounded in the third set and kept the set tight but once again DU held on and won it 25-22.

KUEHN LEADS THE OFFENSE
|
Junior Sarah Kuehn (Green Bay, Wis./De Pere) led the Wildcats offense with 14 kills, hitting at a .440 clip. Senior Autumn Monsma (Grand Haven, Mich.) added nine kills.
Senior Maggie Liebeck (Luxemburg, Wis./Luxemburg-Casco) and sophomore Leticia Antunes (Florianopolis, Brazil/Colegio Ofelia Fonseca) aided the effort with five each.

A PAIR SETS IT UP

Senior Lynzi Svoboda (Minneapolis, Minn./Minneapolis Southwest) finished with a team-high 16 assists. Freshman Abby Fortune (Appleton, Wis./Appleton North) chipped in with 14 assists on the day.

THE DEFENSE
|
Antunes paced the defensive backline with 12 digs while freshman Alli Yacko (Oak Lawn, Ill.) posted 11. Monsma notched nine and senior Rachel Braunschweig (Alamo, Calif./San Ramon Valley) had eight.
At the net, Kuehn finished with three block assists. Antunes and sophomore Cierra Martinez (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley) both tallied two block assists.

The Wildcats fell to 10-5 on the year and 2-5 in the conference while the Panthers moved to 9-7 overall and 4-3 in league play. NMU will hit the road next weekend to face Ashland University Friday night and Wayne State University Saturday afternoon.
