The Huskies tacked on another goal 15 minutes into the second half to take a 2-0 lead. NMU attempted five more shots in the second half but could not trim the lead. Sophomore midfielder Luca Lippert (Langen, Germany) finished the game with two shots on-goal, while eight other Wildcats each attempted one.

Junior goalkeeper Brayden Wilinski (Seymour, Wisconsin) garnered the start in the season opener, playing all 90 minutes. He finished the game with a pair of saves while facing four shots on-goal.
