Box Score WESTVILLE, Ind. -- Northern Michigan University Volleyball defeated Purdue University Northwest 3-0 for a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory.

SET SCORES

Purdue Northwest jumped out 4-0 to start the first set, but NMU answered and tied the set at 11-11. The Wildcats then finished the set on a 14-6 rally to win the first set 25-17.
In the second set, the teams played even to a 13-13 tie, but NMU was able to eventually pull ahead and won the set 25-19. The final set saw the Wildcats jump out quick to a 9-4 lead and extended it to a 17-9 advantage, PNW fought back but NMU held on to win the set 25-19 to sweep the match.

ACES WILD
|
Junior Gabriela Martinez (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico/Colegio Marista/Rio Piedras) finished with a career-high five aces on the afternoon to lead the team to a season-best 10 aces in the match. Senior Rachel Braunschweig (Alamo, Calif./San Ramon Valley) chipped in with three.
Seniors Autumn Monsma (Grand Haven, Mich.) and Lynzi Svoboda (Minneapolis, Minn./Minneapolis Southwest) both added one each.

OFFENSIVE ATTACK

Monsma led the Wildcat attack with nine kills. Junior Sarah Kuehn (Green Bay, Wis./De Pere) notched eight kills. Senior Maggie Liebeck (Luxemburg, Wis./Luxemburg-Casco) aided the effort with six kills.
Svoboda finished the day with 32 assists.

THE BACK ROW

Braunschweig led the team's back line with 20 digs. Monsma contributed 11 digs. Sophomore Leticia Antunes (Florianopolis, Brazil/Colegio Ofelia Fonseca) tallied eight digs to help the defense.

AT THE NET

NMU featured two Wildcats who finished with three blocks. Kuehn and sophomore Cierra Martinez (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley) both had one solo block and two block assists. Liebeck added two block assists.

The Wildcats, now 11-8 on the season and 3-8 in the GLIAC will take a break from GLIAC action as they head to the Conference Crossover Friday and Saturday in Indianapolis, Indiana. The weekend begins with Cedarville University at 2:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.
