Box Score CALEDONIA, Mich.—Northern Michigan University Women's Soccer (4-5-2, 1-2-0 GLIAC) dropped a road match, 1-0, to Davenport University (4-5-0, 2-1-0 GLIAC) Sunday evening. The Wildcats began the match by controlling the tempo, but a DU score in the 66th-minute would seal a Panther victory.

THE START |
The Wildcats began the match by controlling the ball and offensive tempo for much of the first half. NMU held Davenport without a shot for the first 18 minutes of play and had a 6-2 shot advantage after the contest's first 30 minutes.

FENDING OFF THE PANTHERS |
As the first half was winding down, the Panthers began to increase their attack on the offensive side, outshooting the Wildcats 5-3 in the final 15 minutes of the half. Both sides still went into the halftime intermission scoreless after the Wildcat defense managed to turn away all four shots on-goal faced during the span.

SECOND HALF |
Davenport continued their offensive outburst into the second half, but NMU managed to keep up the pace with the Panthers in the second 45 minutes. The Wildcats were outshot, 9-7, in the half but also attempted a trio of corner kicks.
The match was decided in the 66th-minute of play when DU managed to tap the ball past the Wildcat goalkeeper in the box for the lone score of the match by either squad. NMU held off four shots by the Panthers the rest of the way but attempted just two, failing to extend the match.

Freshman midfielder Caroline Halonen (Hartland, Michigan) attempted nine shots in the match, a game-high. Senior forward Aimee Colla (Muskego, Wisconsin) and freshman forward Taelor Moore (Warren, Michigan) attempted three and two shots, respectively, with each putting one on-goal. Freshman forward Rachael Erste (Rockford, Michigan) attempted a single shot in the match.

VERMETTE GETS ANOTHER START |
Senior goalkeeper Emma Vermette (Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan) made her fourth appearance of the season and second-consecutive start on Friday. She stopped five shots to bring her season total to 24. Her season goals against average now sits at 0.94, while her save percentage on the season is .899.
