Box Score HOUGHTON, Mich. – Northern Michigan University Volleyball traveled to rival Michigan Technological University for a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup, but fell to the Huskies 3-1.

SET SCORES

In the first set, Michigan Tech managed to pull ahead and win 25-18, and jumped out 12-8 in the second set before NMU rallied back to win the set 25-20.
The third set saw the teams tie at 25-25 before two straight points from the host gave the Huskies a 27-25 win in the third set.
MTU was able to jump ahead in the fourth set but NMU rallied back to make it 15-14. However, the Huskies held on and took the match with a 25-17 set victory.

GETTING THE KILL

Junior Sarah Kuehn (Green Bay, Wis./De Pere) led the Wildcat offense with a season high 17 kills, hitting .306 for the night. The 17 kills are one shy of her career-high which came in a five-set victory over Ferris State University last season.
Aiding the attack was senior Autumn Monsma (Grand Haven, Mich.) with 11 kills. Senior Maggie Liebeck (Luxemburg, Wis./Luxemburg-Casco) added 10.
Senior Lynzi Svoboda (Minneapolis, Minn./Minneapolis Southwest) finished the match with 43 assists.

COMING UP ACES
|
NMU notched seven aces, led by freshman Lizzy Stark (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn), who posted a career-high four aces. Sophomore Leticia Antunes (Florianopolis, Brazil/Colegio Ofelia Fonseca) chipped in with two while Monsma posted one.

Monsma paced the defense with 14 digs. Senior Rachel Braunschweig (Alamo, Calif./San Ramon Valley) and junior Gabriela Martinez (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico/Colegio Marista/Rio Piedras) tied with ten each.
At the net, Kuehn notched four blocks on the night, while Svoboda tallied three.
