SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio — Shelby Klotz netted nine goals to lift the Northern Michigan lacrosse team to a 22-10 victory over Notre Dame (Ohio) Sunday afternoon at Mueller Field.

The Wildcats took command of the game early, scoring eight unanswered goals to build an 11-2 lead by the 14:29 mark of the first half. At halftime, their advantage remained at nine, with a score of 14-5.

Northern Michigan extended its lead to 12, at 18-6, by notching four of the second half's first five goals. Klotz found the back of the net twice in the final six minutes to bring the final score to 22-10.

Klotz's nine-goal effort was the best posted by a Wildcat during this inaugural season. The previous high was six, accomplished by Graison Ringlever on March 19 at Shepherd and by Jordan Hanner on March 7 against Concordia-St. Paul.

Klotz now has 23 goals in seven games, 10 more than the next Wildcat. She has posted five or more goals three times.

Blair Osgood (4g-1a), Savannah Stich (4g) and Hanner (2g) also had multi-point outings while Megan Palacio scored her first goal of the season.

Brianna Bangle made four saves. Northern Michigan held a 25-14 edge in shots on goal and a 24-10 advantage in draw controls. The Wildcats also went 19 for 19 in clear attempts.

Darbie Barkman scored half of the Falcons' goals. Notre Dame (Ohio) moved to 1-3 on the season with the loss.

Northern Michigan, now 2-5, stays on the road next weekend. The Wildcats close non-conference action on March 31 with a rematch against Concordia-St. Paul and then begin GLIAC action on April 2 against McKendree.
