UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Northern Michigan University Volleyball Team extended their win streak to six games and collected their tenth sweep of the season as the Wildcats defeated Saginaw Valley State University 3-0 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest.

NMU won the first set 25-23, took the second set 25-21 and captured the match victory by taking the third set 25-15.  Today's win also marked their sixth sweep of a GLIAC opponent, and their fourth in a row in conference play.

Leading the Wildcats was redshirt sophomore Sarah Kuehn (Green Bay, Wisc./De Pere) with 11 kills and six block assists.  Senior Madison Whitehead (Altoona, Wisc.) added nine kills, a solo block and two block assists.  Whitehead is now just two kills away from fourth place in school history. 

Senior Kayla Chosa (Wrightstown, Mich.) chipped into the effort with eight kills, a solo block and two block assists.  

Jami Hogeboom (Grand Haven, Mich.) paced the team with 33 assists.  She also tied for the team's lead with two aces, tying junior Autumn Monsma (Grand Haven, Mich.) Monsma is just three aces away from 100 aces in her career. 

In the back line, junior Rachel Braunschweig (Alamo, Calif./San Ramon Valley/Cape Fear CC) led with 14 digs.  Freshman Leticia Antunes (Florianopolis, Brazil/Colegio Ofelia Fonseca) chipped in with 12 digs.  Antunes also posted two block assists.

NMU improved to 18-6 with the win, 10-3 in the league.  SVSU fell to 5-19, 3-10 in the GLIAC.  The Wildcats will now return to Vandament Arena next Saturday evening to take on rival Michigan Technological University in a rematch of a 3-1 NMU victory earlier this season.
