Box Score HOUGHTON, Mich. — The Northern Michigan volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback to rival Michigan Tech Tuesday night at SDC Wood Gym.
The Huskies toppled the Wildcats, who rallied from a 2-0 deficit to score a five-set win in their last meeting on Sept. 27, by 25-18, 25-18 and 25-11 margins.
Michigan Tech opened the first set with a 12-6 run. Northern Michigan took four of the next five points to draw within three, at 13-10. The Huskies stole away with a 6-0 run; while the Wildcats would pull within four on the strength of a late 8-3, Michigan Tech took the set's final three points to open a 1-0 lead.
In the second set, the Huskies used a 7-4 run and an 8-3 run to down Northern Michigan. They sealed their victory by running out to a 14-4 lead in the third set and then winning the final seven points.
Megan Crane and Kayla Chosa tied for the team high with eight kills. Rachel Braunschweig recorded 15 digs while Lynzi Svoboda posted 13 assists.
The Wildcats will play their final four games of the regular season at Vandament Arena. This weekend, they take on Hillsdale Friday at 7 p.m. and Northwood Saturday at 4 p.m.
