Wildcat Men's Soccer Dropped by Tiffin, 2-1

Box Score

MARQUETTE, Mich. — The Northern Michigan men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 setback to Tiffin Friday afternoon at the NMU Soccer Field.

The Dragons used two second-half goals to snap the Wildcats' two-game unbeaten streak.

Tiffin came out flying in the opening minutes of the match, forcing Northern Michigan to come up with three-straight team saves to maintain the scoreless deadlock.

After Filippo Torelli made five of his career-high 17 saves, Odin Aam broke through in the 33rd minute, taking a cross from Ben Hoffman and threading the ball into the right corner of the net.

The Dragons finally solved Torelli in the 48th minute when Andre Landell collected a Michael McPeek rebound and fired a shot into the upper right corner of the net.

Tiffin took the lead for good in the 68th minute, with Limamu Mohammed finding the upper left corner of the net.

With less than five minutes remaining in regulation, Cary Wilson denied Eric Suess to keep Tiffin ahead on the scoreboard.

Torelli's save total was eight more than his previous career high, set against Saginaw Valley State on Sept. 30. Aam's goal was the first of his collegiate career.

The Wildcats next take on Findlay Sunday at 4 p.m. in their inaugural season's final home game.
