Box Score FINDLAY, Ohio — The Northern Michigan volleyball team was downed by Findlay, 3-1, Saturday afternoon at Croy Gymnasium in front of 110 fans.
"The team left all they had on the floor tonight, and I'm proud of their effort," head coach Dominic Yoder said. "We had an opportunity in each of these set for an upset. We'll get back after it this week, and we're excited to play at home."
After the Wildcats won a tight first set, 25-22, the Oilers rallied to win the second, 25-19.
After trading points in hard-fought third set, the Oilers finally edged out the Wildcats, 26-24. The Wildcats and Oilers again traded points early in the fourth set, but the Oilers pulled ahead to best the Wildcats, 25-18.
Anna Aycock posted 14 kills while Madison Whitehead also reached the double digits with 13 kills and a .476 hitting percentage. Kayla Chosa posted nine kills and Lisa Studnicka recorded eight kills. Jami Hogeboom led the team with 38 assists while two Wildcats recorded service aces.
With the loss, Northern Michigan falls to 10-6 (2-5 GLIAC). The Wildcats return to action when they open a two-game home stand against Malone Oct. 9 at 7 p.m.
