NMU Men's Basketball Drops Weekend Opener at Saginaw

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Northern Michigan University men's basketball fell at Saginaw to open a weekend road trip by a 65-43 final.  The Wildcats drop to 6-11 on the season with a 4-7 mark in conference play, while the Cardinals are now 14-2 on the year with an 11-0 ledger in GLIAC contests.

Saginaw opened the game scoring 24 of the first 32 points in the game to take the early lead.  The Wildcats were able to score the final three points of the half to set the half time score at 38-21.

Freshman forward Cooper Radtke led NMU with seven points off the bench in the opening half.  Saginaw was able to shoot efficiently going 16-29 (.552) from the field.

The Cardinals were able to extend their lead at the beginning of the half but NMU was able to build some momentum heading into their final game of the weekend by finishing the game on an 11-4 run to set the final at 65-43.

Freshman forward Alex Sorenson led NMU with seven points on the night, while senior forward Chavis Mattison was able to pull down seven boards, three of which were on the offensive glass.

Northern Michigan finishes the weekend travelling to Northwood for a 3 p.m. tip Saturday, Jan. 24.
