Hockey 'Cats Split with Anchorage

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Northern Michigan University hockey Wildcats fell to the University of Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves, 4-0, in the second game of their two-game series.  The 'Cats are now 7-2-1 overall and 4-2-0 in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.  The Seawolves improve to 5-7-2, 2-6-0 in the WCHA. 

The Wildcats fell victim to three first period Seawolve even-strength goals.  Their first goal came at 12:47 as Tad Kozun scored even strength, assisted by Brad Duwe and Chris Williams.  The next two came in the final minute of the second period as Dylan Hubbs (assisted by Zach Rassell and Anthony Conti) and Austin Sevalrud (assisted by Anthony Conti and Dylan Hubbs) each scored for the Seawolves.  The Seawolves extended their lead to four when Matt Anholt scored at 18:40 of the third period, assisted by Brett Cameron and Chase Van Allen. 

Mathias Dahlstrom had 25 saves on 29 shots in goal for the Wildcats.  Olivier Mantha had the shutout in net for the Seawolves, making 28 saves. 

Each team had 6 penalties on the night.  The Wildcats were 0 for 4 on the power play while the Seawolves went 0 for 5. 

The hockey 'Cats return to action on Friday, November 28, when they play in Fairbanks, Alaska, against the Alaska Nanooks.
