Box Score BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - Northern Michigan University volleyball fell to No. 22 Ferris State in straight sets with scores of 25-12, 25-14 and 25-14. The Wildcats are now 10-12 overall with a 10-3 record in league action following the loss and have lost back-to-back Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contests for the first time this season.
Northern Michigan was able to hang tough in the beginning of each set, but the Bulldogs were able to use extended runs to take the match in straight sets.
After coming out slow on the attack, the Wildcats were able to record a hitting percentage of .222 in the third set.
Sophomore middle hitter Anna Aycock had three service aces, while freshman setter Meghan Seymour assisted on 15 Wildcat kills.
Freshman Madison Whitehead led the Wildcats with eight kills in the contest while sophomore Alex Larsen had six kills.
Ferris State used runs of 7-0 in the first set, 11-0 in the second and 5-0 in the third to keep the Wildcats off balance. Ferris State's Courtney Rehm led all players with nine kills in the contest.
Northern Michigan travels to rival Michigan Tech Tuesday, Oct. 28 for a 7 p.m. first serve. Earlier this season, NMU defeated the Huskies 3-1 (25-20, 25-23, 24-26 and 25-21) in Vandament Arena.
