Northern Michigan head track & field and cross country coach Jenny Ryan announced the hiring of Luke Pease as an assistant coach on Dec. 12, 2014.

Pease was a part of the 2024-25 coaching staff that was honored with the GLIAC Outdoor Coaching Staff of the Year. Northern had a historic outdoor campaign, claiming its best-ever GLIAC finish in program history by taking 2nd. Northern had a whopping nine podium finishes with Teiolla Harvey (javelin) and Ellyse Wolfrath (100m hurdles) taking first. The team also set three new school records at the meet. Harvey, Alayna Vandegriff (triple jump) and Crystal Walker (long jump and 100m hurdles) were named All-Region. Walker advanced to the the NCAA Championships in the 100m hurdles.

Pease served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Wildcats during the 2013-14 season and as a part-time assistant in the fall of 2014. He is a Level 1 certified coach through USA Track & Field and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Pease earned his bachelor of science in exercise science from Lake Superior State in 2012. He was a member of the cross country and track & field teams and was a three-time most valuable runner for the cross country squad. Pease also served as a student-assistant coach at Lake Superior State for one semester.

Pease earned his masters of science in exercise science at Northern Michigan.
