Biography

2017-18: Finished ninth at the UP Opener with a time of 49:16.48 to begin the season. Kopal placed 19th in the 15K freestyle race and 23rd in the 10K classic race at the Birkie CCSA Races.

2016-17: Redshirted.

2015-16: Took ninth in the 10K freestyle (27:26.6) and eighth in the 20K classic (58:43.1) at the CCSA Invitational. Finished seventh in the 15K mass start (38:00.7) at the CCSA Championship. Placed eighth in the 10K freestyle (26:12.1) at the NCAA Central Regional Championship. Named to the all-CCSA second team.

2014-15: Finished in the top 10 in four freestyle and three classic races. Finished 12th in the freestyle at the NCAA Regional with a time of 25:12.1. At the St. Paul Battle Creek Super, finished 13th with a classic-best time of 42:31.8. Earned the team's Most Improved award.

2013-14: Started the season with a top-10 finish in the freestyle at the MTU Opener with a time of 34:01. Eventually cut his time in the freestyle to as low as 27:50. His best performance in the classic came when he finished in 19th place at Mt. Itasca with a time of 29:06.

High School: Earned the 2009 Nordic Skiing Czech championship title in the 10K freestyle race with mass start. Also skied for Ski Klub Jablonec, winning club championships every year except 2013.

Personal: Majoring in Finance. Son of Vladimir and Karolina Kopal. Born on January 7, 1993.
