Biography

2015-16: Placed fourth in the freestyle sprint and 14th in the 15K classic at the U.S. Skiing Championships. Earned College Cup Grand Champion honors at the U.S. Skiing Championships. Placed in the top 10 in both events at the Telemark Chase and CCSA Invitational.

2014-15: Captured an NCAA title in the 20K classic with a time of 56:12.3. Became only the sixth Wildcat to win an event at the NCAA National Skiing Championships. Over the course of the season, won of six classic races. Added four top-five finishes in freestyle events, highlighted by a second-place finish at the CCSA Distance Championships with a time of 19:29.5. Named Northern Michigan's Male Athlete of the Year and the ski team's MVP.

2013-14: Finished second in the classic at the Mt. Itasca Distance meet, clocking in at 26:59.8. Earned second team All-American honors in the 10K classic at the NCAA National Championships after placing 10th with a time of 25:47.2. Also captured second team All-American accolades after finishing sixth in the men's 20K freestyle race with a time of 44:01.4. Named the Central Region Male Athlete of the Year.

Personal: Enjoys golfing, soccer and tennis. Majoring in mechanical engineering. Son of Hans Schwencke and Kathrine Bioernstad. Born on May 11, 1992.
