2011-12: CCSA second team selection. Finished 12th in the freestyle at USSA Opener at Michigan Tech, and ninth in the classic. Placed fifth in the freestyle and eighth in the 1.5k classic sprints at the Hilltop Invitational. Took 21st in the classic at the Mayor’s Challenge. At the CCSA Championship, placed fifth in the 20k classic with a time of 1:03:06.1, and third in the 3x5 k freestyle relay. Finished fourth in the 10k freestyle and fifth in the 15k classic at the NCAA Central Regional. At the NCAA Championship, placed 33rd in the 10k freestyle and 30th in the 20k classic.
2010-11: Lettered. Named to the CCSA second team. Won the 10k classic and finished seventh in the freestyle at the season opener at Michigan Tech. Finished fifth in the classic and 12th in the freestyle at the USSA Opener in Ironwood. Finished 59th in the classic at U.S. Nationals. Finished 19th in the classic in the Super Tour in Minneapolis. Placed fourth in the classic and 10th in the freestyle at the Super Tour in Houghton. Placed third in the freestyle and 13th in the classic to help NMU win the CCSA title. Finished fourth in the classic and eighth in the freestyle at the NCAA Regional.
2009-10: Named to the CCSA first team. Qualified for the NCAA Championship and finished 30th in the 10k classic with a time of 31:24 also placed 34th in the 20k freestyle. Finished second in the 10k with a time of 29:58 at the NCAA Central Regional Championship and placed sixth in the 15k freestyle. Placed 24th in the 10k classic at the Mayor’s Challenge in Minneapolis, Minn. and finished fourth in the OJ 10k freestyle. Finished eighth in the 10k freestyle at the CCSA Championship. Skated to a 23rd in the 15k freestyle at the Telemark Super Tour and finished 14th in the 10k classic. Finished 95th in the 15k freestyle (Interval Start) at the U.S. Championships.
2008-09: Redshirted.
High School: Skied and ran track at Newman Catholic High School. Was a seven-time All-American at Nordic Skiing Junior Nationals. High school state champion in sprint and classic race. Named team captain and MVP. In track, was all-conference from 2006-2008, all-state in 2006 and team captain.
Personal: Likes running, triathlons, surfing, music and watching professional sports. Majoring in secondary education with a minor in mathematics and economics. Son of Bill and Susan Bowler. Born on April 24, 1990.
