Biography

2017-18: Won the 200-yard backstroke against UW Stevens Point. Captured second place against Saginaw Valley St. in the 400-yard individual medley. Five third-place finishes in two different events, three in the 200-yard backstroke and two in the 400-yard IM.

2016-17: Saunders competed in the quad meet against St. Cloud, Moorhead and Northern State, taking second in  the 200-yard backstroke (2:08.39). Competed against UWGB, scoring a first place time in the 400-yard IM (4:39.58).

2015-16: Earned the team's Newcomer of the Year award. Competed at the NCAA Championships earning All-American honors in the 200 backstroke posting a fourth place finish and setting a team record (1:58.08). Also at the NCAA Championships, swam in the 400 IM finishing in 15th place (4:28.87) and in the 200 IM finishing in 26th place (2:06.91). Was a member of the 200 medley relay team that finished in 16th place at the NCAA Championships (1:45.54). Won the 200 backstroke at the GLIAC Championships (1:59.03).

Before NMU: Competed at the British nationals seven times. Reached the finals in the 400 IM and the semifinals in the 200 backstroke.

Personal: Daughter of Craig and Liz Saunders.
