Join NMU SAAC in Wish Week 2026

MARQUETTE, Mich. -- The NMU Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) invites you to participate in the 2026 Make-A-Wish 'Wish Week', running from February 15 to 21, 2026.

Last year, NMU SAAC reached the $10,000 goal to help fund a trip for Upper Peninsula child Indie Bates and her family to Disney World. NMU raised over $3,000 during Wish Week a year ago and has already raised $3,000 toward the goal.

NMU SAAC Fundraising Committee Chair Kalina Ceglinski says that they are determined to reach their goal and grant another wish for a family in the Upper Peninsula.

"We are excited to be continuing our Make-A-Wish fundraising. Please join us this upcoming week at the events we are hosting to help us reach our $10,000 goal!"

The week's first event is at the home lacrosse game against Northwood on Sunday, February 15, where a table will be set up to collect donations.

Need a coffee fix during the week? Starting Monday, February 16, and ending on the 21st, Cruisin Coffee will feature a 'Drink of the Week' for Wish Week, a drink that will be 10% off, with a percentage of proceeds going towards Make-A-Wish.

SAAC will feature the popular 'Pie to the Face' from last year. Running from 11-1 on the first floor of Jamrich Hall on Wednesday, February 18, you can make donations to pie anyone from athletics coaches, professors, or even your friends! (This event is only open to NMU students, faculty, and staff).

There will be a 'Miracle Minute' at both the men's and women's basketball games against Michigan Tech on February 19. During a 'Miracle Minute', student-athletes will walk through the stands, and they have sixty seconds to collect cash donations. Along with cash, SAAC will have paddles with a scannable QR code that will take you directly to the link to donate if you wish to donate, but do not have cash on hand.

The final home hockey game of the season on Saturday, February 21, will feature a silent auction of NMU-branded gear as well as a miracle minute. Saturday's contest is also 'Senior Night', and the NMU hockey team will honor its seniors before the game.

If you cannot make it to any of these events and still want to donate, you can find NMU's team page here. With any questions, please contact Zack Survillas at zsurvill@nmu.edu.

What Is Wish Week
Wish Week is part of the Make-A-Wish Kids For Wish Kids® program, which gives students the chance to raise funds to help grant life-changing wishes for kids with critical illnesses. Students are responsible for the program, from brainstorming fundraising ideas to developing a plan of action and then seeing their ideas come to life. Teachers and parents often serve as advisors, but ownership of the project belongs solely to the students involved.
