The #11 women and #17 men take on nationally ranked programs on the campus of Wayne State

MARQUETTE, Mich. -- The NMU swim & dive teams take to the road this weekend, traveling to Detroit to swim in the Wayne State Invitational.

The 'Cats will swim in the Matthaei Natatorium on the campus of Wayne State University, competing against nationally ranked Wayne State, nationally ranked Findlay, and GLIAC foe Lake Superior State. The teams compete on Friday, November 6, at 4 p.m. ET, and Saturday, November 7, at 10 a.m. ET.

Fans can watch the live stream through WSUathletics.com: the Friday night stream can be found here, and the Saturday morning stream can be found here. Along with the live stream, fans can keep up to date through nmuwildcats.com and by subscribing to the official NMU swim & dive social media accounts.

The Wildcats enter the weekend nationally ranked in the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) Division II top 25 rankings for October 2026, with the women slotting in at #11 and the men at #17. The 'Cats enter the weekend second in the conference thanks to some big performances from a handful of women in the early going, highlighted by the swimming of Evangeline Pierce, who earned GLIAC Swimmer of the Week after her showing at the NMU Quad Meet. The men enter the weekend fourth in the conference, and reigning GLIAC Swimmer of the Year and GLIAC Freshman of the Year Matteo Ballardin is leading the way, earning his second GLIAC Swimmer of the Week honor after a dominant outing at the NMU Quad Meet.

Hosts Wayne State are highly touted, with the women entering the weekend at #17 and the men posting a #11 ranking in the top 25 poll. The women are third in the conference, just behind the Wildcats, and are led by Giulia Radovici, who earned three gold and three silver medals at the Davenport October Invite at the beginning of the month. The men boast Kadem Goksu Erdagli and William Debroux, who are third and fourth in the conference rankings, respectively.

The Findlay Oilers, members of the G-MAC, enter the weekend both atop the conference rankings and nationally in the top 10, with the women slitting in at #8 and the men claiming #10. In the early going of the campaign, the women boast the top nine swimmers in the G-MAC, led by Giannitsa Garcia Lopez. The men are off to an equally impressive start among the conference, claiming 17 of the top 19 ranking spots in the conference. Wojciech Okon leads the way for the Oilers.

The Lakers, who are a new program in Division II swimming, hold the last spot in the GLIAC conference for both the men and women. Zita Gonda leads the Lakers as the #31-ranked swimmer in the conference, and Laurel Roberts-Burrell is #44 for the men.
