Nilssen and Dybwad Complete Day One at NCAA Championships

HANOVER, NH. - The NMU women's nordic ski team completed day one of this year's NCAA Championships, with the duo of Henriette Nilssen and Victoria Dybwad competing in the 7.5k classic.

Nilssen began her race at 10:18:00 AM, finishing 30th with her time of 26:37.3 to earn her team one team point. Dybwad, who went out three and a half minutes earlier, finished in 31st with a time of 26:39.2.

Of CCSA skiers, it was Greta Leitheiser of the College of Saint Scholastica who finished first, sitting 24th overall and earning seven team points with her time of 26:09.7. Marie Wangen of Michigan Tech was the second conference skier, finishing 28th overall and earning three team points with a time of 26:24.2. Nilssen was the third conference skier, followed by Dybwad in fourth. Bridget Burns and Greta Hansen of Michigan Tech rounded out the field at 39 and 40, respectively.

40 individuals from 17 diffrent institutions raced the course, led by the top time of Erica Laven (23:43.3) from the University of Utah. Annie McColgan (23:54.4) from the University of Vermont finished silver, and Jasmine Drolet (24:14.3) of Dartmouth claimed bronze.

Among CCSA schools, College of Saint Scholastica was 12th overall with seven points, followed by Michigan Tech in 13th with three, and Northern Michigan in 15th with one. Host university Dartmouth claimed 88 points, Utah second with 86, and Vermont in third with 66.

The Wildcats now look to Saturday, March 8, when they compete in the 20k mass start. Teams begin at noon ET.
