Jonathan Clarke and Jordan Parent competed on the 'NMU 2' relay team

Both Relay Teams finish Top-15 at SuperTour Finals

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - The NMU nordic ski team's competed in the penultimate event at this years SuperTour finals, that being the 4 x 5k mixed relay.

The 'NMU 1' relay team of Kristoffer Karsrud, Henriette Nilssen, Luke Fricker, and Victoria Dybwad finished in 10th place overall and second among NCAA schools with a combined time of 52:09.5. The 'NMU 2' team of Jonathan Clarke, Jordan Parent, Adrik Kraftson, and Merle Richter finished 15th overall and seventh among NCAA programs with their time of 53:10.2.

Karsrud led off NMU 1 in the first 5k, posting 1.25k splits of 3:36.1, 3:18.1, 3:07.9, and 2:18.0 for a time of 12:20.3 at the first tag. Nilssen was next, posting split times of 04:16.3, 3:56.9, 3:39.2, and 2:38.4 to get the 'Cats to 26:54.1 before sending out Fricker. Fricker skied times of 3:23.0, 2:58.0, 3:14.4, and 2:23.4, and NMU sat at 38:50.4 with one skier to go. Dybwad anchored the relay, posting splits of 3:50.4, 3:39.2, 3:17.1, and 2:32.3 to cross the line at 52:09.5.

The NMU 2 team was led off by Clarke (3:36.8, 3:18.1, 3:07.9, 2:16.8 - 12:19.7), followed by Parent (04:25.7, 4:21.1, 4:00.1, 2:45.8 - 27:52.6) and Kraftson (3:23.5, 3:01.4, 2:50.3, 2:09.4 - 39:17.4), before Richter finished as the anchor (4:10.3, 3:57.6, 3:16.2, 2:28.6 - 53:10.2).

The teams look ahead to the final day of competition tomorrow, the 40k distance mass start. The women start at 8 a.m., with the men starting at 10:30 a.m. from Mt. Van Hoevenberg.
