Nilssen and Richter Advance to Quarterfinals in Sprints at SuperTour Finals

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - The NMU women's nordic ski team had two skiers advance to the quarterfinals in the sprints at the SuperTour Finals.

Of the 75 skiers from both professional and collegiate programs who raced, the top 30 qualified to the bracket section of the competition. NMU had two skiers advance, those being Henriette Nilssen and Merle Richter. 

Nilssen finished 25th in qualifying with her time of 3:17.08, followed by teammate Richter in 26th with her time of 3:17.88, finishing 11th and 12th among collegeiate skiers. 

The pair skied in the third quarterfinal heat of six skiers. Nilssen finished fifth in the group with a time of 3:17.68, and Richter finished sixth in the group with her time of 3:27.41. 

Two NMU athletes missed the top-30 cut, those being Victoria Dybwad (33rd, 3:20.64) and Jordan Parent (43rd, 3:27.13). 

None of the 'Cats earned SuperTour points from finishes today. Nilssen is 37th overall with 35 points, Dybwad 80th with two points, and Parent 84th with one point. A full list of SuperTour points can be found here.

The 'Cats now look ahead to tomorrow's mixed 4 x 5k mixed team relay, with competition starting at 10 a.m. from Mt. Van Hoevenberg.
