MARQUETTE, Mich. - Last in action on December 15, the Northern Michigan women's wrestling team is eager to return to action and will return to the mat in front of the Wildcat faithful as the Green and Gold will host Alma for duals before heading to Wisconsin for tournament action.
The Wildcats will host Alma College on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Superior Dome. The event is free to attend and fans are encouraged to come cheer on the 'Cats.
Northern will then head to Plymouth, Wisconsin to take part in the Lakeland Scramble on Sunday. The action will start at 1:30 p.m. ET (12:30 p.m. CT).

On December 15, Northern totaled 14.0 points to place 31st of 41 teams at the North Central College Invitational. Six wrestlers picked up a total of seven victories.
Clarissa Wangen led the way with two wins in the 180 weight class while
Ruby Joseph,
Mickaela Keane,
Sophia Bassino,
Samantha Chaon, and
Zhivanna Magdaleno each collected a win.
About the 'Cats
- Yu Sakamoto ranks 11th nationally in the 117 weight class by The Open Mat. She recently earned the world champion title at the U23 World Championships in Albania.
- Alissa Caltagirone is ranked 14th in the 145 weight class and Ozioma Ogu is 19th at 207.
- NMU has ten regional top-5 finishes in its history, with Diana Dzasezava winning in 2023.
- The program has produced two All-Americans and 12 Scholar All-Americans over its three-year history.
