MINNEAPOLIS - The Northern Michigan cross country team placed 8th out of 24 teams on Friday at the Roy Griak Invite in St. Paul, Minnesota with four top-50 finishes.
With over 300 runners, last year's NCAA championship participant,
Madi Szymanski led the way for the Green and Gold with a time of 23:41.0 to take 20th place. Trailing close behind Szymanski was sophomore,
Dani Van Lente, who placed 26th with a time of 24:00.5.
Two other Wildcats crossed the finish line within the top-50.
Gianna Hoving finished in 24:08.5 to take 32nd place.
Lamar Gordon placed 50th with a time of 24:29.9
Skylar Grubb snuck into the top-100 as she finished with a 25:09.2 to take 87th place.
Celia Wallace also slid into the top-100 as well, placing 94th at 25:23.1.
Augustana University claimed first place as a team, with the University of Mary as runner-ups and Winona State University taking 3rd. Alyssa Becker from the University of Mary finished as the front runner, with a time of 21:54.5.
