MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan wrestling team hosted Alma College for duals in the Superior Dome on Tuesday night. The 'Cats emerged victorious 33-13 after winning the four contested matches and two of three exhibitions.
The night started off with a bout in the 191 weight class. NMU's Teni Ajayi battled for three rounds and emerged victorious, garnering a 3-1 point advantage in an 11-11 decision.
Trinity Valentin followed it up for the Wildcats with another victory at 109. Valentin got the job done by decision (10-2), picking up three points for the Green and Gold.
The third bout consisted of another Wildcat victory, with
Zhivanna Magdaleno picking up the win at 123 after a 10-0 tech fall.
The 'Cats swept the four matches as
Samantha Chaon picked up a win by decision 3-2 at 130.
Alma picked up two wins by forfeit while the Wildcats had four victories via forfeit.
In three exhibitions to end the night,
Abigale Swanson won at 191 by tech fall,
Trinity Valentin lost by fall at 109, and
Sharon Leon capped off the night with a victory by tech fall at the 136 weight class.

The 'Cats will have some time off ahead of the next competition. It will be the NCWCC Northwest Regional Qualifier that will take place on February 25 in Naperville, Illinois.
