ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Northern Michigan wrestling team competed against Grand Valley State in its inaugural home duals on Saturday night, falling 44-6.
The day started at 160, with GVSU's Clarissa Agostini defeating
Sophia Bassino (TF 14-4 4:16) for a 4-1 team score. At 180, Sabrina Nauss of GVSU was victorious over
Clarissa Wangen (Fall 1:42) to add five points and make the score 9-1 Lakers.
Next came the bout at 207, when NMU got its win from
Ozioma Ogu over Aaliyah Grandberry (Fall 2:49). That added five points for the Green and Gold and made the score 9-6.
The match at 103 was a forfeit for NMU, making the overall score 14-6 at the time.
At 110, Grand Valley and Sage Mortimer got the win over
Trinity Valentin (Fall 0:03) to push the score to 19-6. The battle at 117 followed, with the Grand Valley's Ana Malovich getting the win over
Bryn Sandhu(Fall 0:04) for five more points for GVSU. The score was 24-6.
Next came the battle at 124, with GV's Aspen Blasko besting
Zhivanna Magdaleno (Fall 1:18) for five points and a 29-6 score. At 131, Hannah Palise won over
Sharon Leon (Fall 2:33) to make it 34-6. The last battle was at 138, a win for the Lakers from Katerina Lange over
Samantha Chaon (Fall 1:40) for five points. A second forfeit took place at 145 to make the final score 44-6.
