BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The Northern Michigan cross country team competed at the GLIAC Championships downstate on Saturday, where
Gianna Hoving finished inside the top-10 to earn All-GLIAC First Team honors, with the team finishing in 7th.
Hoving ran the 6K race in a time of 21:44.2, just a couple seconds off her personal best, for 10th place. The junior improved her time at each mark, running in 35th place after 2K and then gaining ground to 18th at the 4K mark before moving all the way up to a top-10 All-GLIAC First Team finish by the finish line.
"I like starting off pretty slow and steady." Hoving said following her career race. "I just tell myself God is good and with me. As the race continued, I set my eyes on the yellow Michigan Tech jerseys ahead of me. I kept telling myself I am strong and I can catch them, and then I did and praised the Lord."
