MARQUETTE, Mich. - The Marquette Marathon, presented by Eagle Mine, is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 2nd, 2023. The Marquette Marathon runs on a downhill/certified course that is an official Boston Marathon qualifier.
For 2023, the Marquette Marathon, Marathon RELAY, Half Marathon, and Wildcat 5K will be held on Saturday, September 2nd, with the race EXPO and 1 Mile Pebble Run being held on Friday, September 1st.Â
The course showcases the beauty and rich history of Marquette County, with a route that runs through the iconic and scenic Iron Ore Heritage Trail from Ishpeming to Negaunee before runners make their way through downtown Marquette. The Marathon offers a course that passes through historic neighborhoods, iconic landmarks, and a finish on the banks of Lake Superior, offering a comprehensive tour of the beauty of Marquette County.
The Marquette Marathon has become a destination race for many athletes, offering a rewarding experience for participants. Energetic support from the community, along with Northern Michigan University students and student-athletes, makes the Marquette Marathon a must-run event for anyone looking for a memorable race in the Midwest.
The Marquette Marathon EXPO will be held from 3-8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, inside the Superior Dome, located on the campus of Northern Michigan University. Runners can pick up their race packets and browse the booths from various local vendors, along with socializing with other racers and local residents.
After the race, a post-race awards ceremony will be inside the Superior Dome with entertainment provided by Double Trouble Entertainment.
Marquette Marathon - Presented by Eagle Mine - Sept. 2, 7:30 AM
The Marquette Marathon, presented by Eagle Mine, is run on a point-to-point course through beautiful Marquette County, located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The Marquette Marathon has a history dating back to the late 1970's.
This course has quickly become known as one of the fastest Boston qualifier courses in the country, with an average finishing time of 4:09 in 2022.Â
The race starts at 7:30 a.m. in Ishpeming, MI. You'll park at the Berry Events Center on race morning and take a shuttle/bus to the start.
The start is in the heart of the small iron mining town, Ishpeming, which means "heaven" in Ojibwa. The course then follows the Iron Ore Heritage Trail down into Marquette. The Marquette Marathon will finish at the Superior Dome.
Awards will be presented to the Top 3 Male and Female Overall finishers, and the Top 3 in the following age groups: 19 and under, Â 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Shirt and medals will be awarded to all finishers!

Marquette Half Marathon - Presented by Meijer - Sept. 2, 9:00 AM
The Marquette Half Marathon, presented by Meijer, has become the race to run if you're looking for that new PR! The course is blazing fast and certified, with exceptional on-course support! The half-marathon course follows the Iron Ore Heritage Trail down into Marquette and will finish at the Superior Dome.Â
Race starts at 9:00 am in Negaunee, MI. You'll park at the Berry Events Center on race morning and take a shuttle/bus to the start.
Awards will be presented to the Top 3 Male and Female Overall finishers, and Top 3 in the following age groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Shirt and medals to all finishers!

Back by popular demand, the 3-runner Marquette Marathon RELAY is BACK! You'll start with running alongside the marathon runners, with two exchange zones along the course.Â

Wildcat 5K Run/Walk - Presented by Double Trouble Entertainment | Digs City Beach - Sept. 2, 9:00 AM
The Wildcat 5K will start and finish at the Superior Dome, located on the campus of Northern Michigan University. The course is flat and fast, and will surely produce some amazing times. Shirts to all finishers!
Awards will be presented to the Top 3 Male and Female Overall finishers, and the Top-2 in the following age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-6, and 70+.

1 Mile Pebble Fun Run - Presented by Frosty Treats - Sept. 1, 6:00 PM
Friday Night's 1 Mile Pebble Fun Run, held in conjunction with the race EXPO, gives kids a chance to lace up their shoes and show their parents how it's done before the main event on Saturday!
?The Pebble Fun Run will begin at  6:00 PM at Friday night's EXPO, and participants will receive a Frosty Treats cinch sack.
